Professor Askin is the Founder/Director of the Brooklyn Law Incubator & Policy Clinic (BLIP) and the Innovation Catalyst for the Center for Urban Business Entrepreneurship (CUBE) . He founded the BLIP Clinic when he joined Brooklyn Law School in 2008, bringing more than a decade of experience in the communications industry from both the public and private sectors. He has provided legal and policy counsel and strategic advice for companies that build and develop communications networks and Internet applications, as well as for other technology-oriented enterprises and startups.
Professor Askin has also served as a Visiting Professor at the MIT Media Lab, a Visiting Professorial Fellow at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London; a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Amsterdam's Institute for Information Law, a Fellow at the Columbia Institute for Tele-Information; an Adjunct Professor at Columbia Law School; a Founder and Advisor to the Legal Technology Laboratory, and a Founder and Advisor to iLINC, a network of legal support clinics for the European startup community.
Lynda M. Braun teaches trademark law to students in the BLIP Clinic so that they learn the practical skills needed to provide the clinic’s startup clients with selecting, clearing, and applying for trademarks, as well as negotiating and drafting trademark licensing, assignment and coexistence agreements.
Professor Braun also teaches the students how to represent clients in domain name disputes under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP).
Prior to joining the faculty, Professor Braun was a member of the Intellectual Property & Media litigation practice group at Weil, Gotshal and Manges for 25 years. As a nationally recognized intellectual property lawyer, she has significant experience in the areas of trademark, copyright, trade dress, dilution, unfair competition, first amendment, right of publicity, theft of idea, and internet/domain names. Professor Braun represented well-known television, motion picture, fashion, and sports companies and personalities in high profile, precedent-setting cases. In non-litigation matters, Professor Braun managed the trademark and domain name portfolios of a variety of clients and represented others in domain name arbitrations pursuant to the UDRP. She continues to serve as a panelist with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center’s Panel of Neutrals for Resolution of Domain Name Disputes and the ADR Forum, having presided in over 100 UDRP proceedings in that capacity to date. Professor Braun took an atypical route to becoming an attorney, teaching Spanish for 17 years at the Bronx High School of Science before entering law school.
Serge is an Adjunct Professor of Law and Adjunct Professor for Clinical Law at Brooklyn Law School, where he teaches Patent Prosecution and supervises law students at the Brooklyn Law Incubator and Policy Clinic, which counsels startup technology companies on patent and trademark issues. He has also been a guest lecturer on design patent law at New York University. https://www.zellerip.com/
